We do not have any idea of how Ut was tuned in terms of modern day frequencies because they did not have frequency measuring devices in the 8th Century. What is most important is the relationship / intervals between the tones. In other words the Ut could change from day to day. The Ut or Do in music is called a tonic and ideally the tonic is mobile and not fixed. The sagram system for singing and chanting tones has been used in India thousands of years and is also based on natural intervals.ĭo Re Mi Fa So La Ti Ut Is Ut or Do always the same? Sagram is an acronym that represents musical tones similar to Do Re Mi. In the East in Indian classical music, the equivalent to the Solfeggio is called sargram. In the West, the intervals of the Solfeggio are at least 1500 years old. Pythagoras the Greek was a philosopher and mathematician who lived from 570-‐ 496BC. Solfeggio is based on a natural system of tuning called Pythagorean tuning. The Latin text translates as “So that your servants may sing with clear voices the wonders of your deeds and wash the guilt from their stained lips.” My modified translation based on my knowledge of sound healing is, “So that we, the servants of the divine, may sing with tuned voices, and bring ourselves in resonance with the wonders of your vibrational universe”. Ut was changed to “Do” in the 1600’s and the change from Sa to Si is lost to antiquity. The hymm contains the original Do Re Mi although in the those days it was Ut Re Mi. John the Babtist written by Paul the Deacon in the 8th Century A.D. The Christian roots of Solfeggio go back to a Gregorian Chant titled The Hymm to St. We are all familiar with the Solfeggio scale either from singing it in elementary school music class or from popular songs like “Do Re Me” from the Sound of Music. Today Solfeggio is a singing technique used to teach music students how to recognize musical intervals. He has given me permission to reprint the article here. John has recently completed a question and answer article on the Solfeggio frequencies which clarifies a lot of the mis-information regarding these frequencies and introduces new information. Beaulieu has pioneered a technique called BioSonic Repatterning™, a natural method of healing and consciousness development using tuning forks and other sound modalities based on the sonic ratios inherent in nature. Give it a try.John Beaulieu, N.D., Ph.D., is one of the foremost philosophers and major innovators in the area of sound healing therapies.Ī composer, pianist, and naturopathic doctor, Dr. I know this because when they say what they are feeling, there is confidence behind the words. I've recently started helping people to decide this way and it works every time. You may think it is a little silly but it is the best way to make a decision not based on intellect or emotion. Then do the same thing for any other sets you are considering. At that moment, do you feel good or is there a feeling of unease? If feel good then this is the set for you. Close your eyes, take a deep breath and think of the Solfeggio. The most reliable way to know which set is best for you is to not decide with your head, decide in your body. So if you are still uncertain then ask your body. The very act of asking your self which set you feel connected to can still be an intellectual decision. If you feel a connection the elements or Native American teachings and earth energies then select the Solar Harmonics. If you feel connected to numerology or the spiritual connection of the Old Testament, then choose the Solfeggio. To choose between these sets, you should ask where you feel most connected. The Solar Harmonics are based on the 5 elements, earth, fire, water, air and ether. For example, the Solfeggio Tuning Forks are based on numerology found in the Old Testament, the numbers 3, 6 and 9. This is where the set descriptions and experience and feedback from others are important. So if each of these sets take you to the same place, how do you chose? Working with these sets will take you to essentially the same place, a still point - a place of deep meditation and silence where many people find awareness, understanding and a sense of peace. I'll explain this using the the most popular unweighted tuning fork sets, the Solar Harmonics and Solfeggio. Gather as much information as you need but base your decision on who you are and which tuning forks would fit best with your intentions. The pitfall most everyone seems to fall into is to make a decision based on words, a left brain decision. It includes personal experience, feedback from clients and other practitioners and what I feel is reliable research. I try to give as much information as I can in the product description of each tuning fork set. Choosing a set of tuning forks is a lot easier when you approach the decision from who you are and how you want to get where you want to be.
